Hunnewell Furnace Furnace & Backwall
Hunnewell Furnace Furnace & Backwall

Description

Hunnewell Furnace is in poor condition. The inner cupola is long gone and the upper portion of the stack is missing. The rear retaining wall remains in good shape on the upper hill. The wagon slope is clearly evident. The overall site is crumbling.

The furnace had two tuyeres and was probably an early hot blast furnace. I found evidence of a storage building on the hillside above the furnace.
